About Us

Our Purpose

The Alachua County Health Promotion and Wellness Coalition is a 501©3 non-profit that aims to prevent substance use among youth, support families, and improve the overall wellbeing of Alachua County residents. Funded primarily through federal and local grants, HPW raises awareness about the risks of substance use, reduces underage access to substances, and offers family-friendly, drug-free community events such as the annual Run for Your Life 5K Color Run. All programs are free to Alachua County residents, HPW works closely with partner agencies such as the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Tobacco Free Alachua to implement community programs.

Drug Free Community (DFC) Partners Partners

As a Drug-Free Communities Coalition, HPW works closely with the twelve sectors for Drug Free Communities. Partners include parents, law enforcement such as the Gainesville Police Department, students from the University of Florida, members of the HPW Youth Coalition, and more. The Coalition is always seeking new partners, especially those in the business, media, and healthcare professional sectors.
